What information we collect

You can browse cocktail recipes without creating an account. We count page visits, party guide downloads, and clicks that take visitors to the separate shop. These counts help us understand which parts of Booze Clues people use.

If you rate a cocktail, we store the recipe and rating alongside a randomly generated identifier saved in your browser. This helps us count one rating per visitor for each drink. If you submit a recipe, we receive the name, email address, recipe details, and any story you choose to include. If a submission is published, its displayed credit uses your first name and last initial.

If you request a custom party guide, we store your contact information, event details, drink and food preferences, and any notes you provide. We use them to prepare your guide and match your request with your separate Fourthwall purchase. The site owner and curators sign in to private dashboards using email links or their existing ChatGPT access. We use their email addresses to manage access and record publishing activity.

The iPhone app

The app downloads our public cocktail and component catalog. Recipes you save in the app are stored on your device. You do not need an account to browse or save them. If you follow a link from the app to the website or another service, that destination may handle information as described in its own policy.

Ask Chris

When you ask Chris for a drink, the ingredients or preferences you enter are used to recommend recipes from our catalog. If the optional AI service is enabled, your request and a small set of candidate recipe details are sent to OpenAI to select and explain recommendations. Do not enter personal information in your request. To limit automated use, we count requests using a daily one-way hash of a visitor's network address, without storing the address in the rate limit table. You do not need an account to use Chris.

Other websites and services

Booze Clues includes links to the Fourthwall shop, Amazon product listings, recipe sources, and other websites. Those services may collect information when you visit them. Google Apps Script sends dashboard sign-in links and may email custom guide requests to the site owner. Fourthwall handles guide purchases separately; we do not receive payment details through this form. Our website hosting provider may process technical request information needed to deliver and secure the site.

Your choices

You can clear your browser data to remove the local rating identifier, and remove saved recipes in the app. To ask about a recipe submission or request access to or deletion of personal information you provided, email cdlaney@gmail.com. We may retain information where needed to operate the site or meet legal obligations.
